Well, about 2 months I purchased a 2014 GTI Driver's Edition. The Driver's Edition is basically an Autobahn model without the push-button start, KESSY, the aluminum trim, and the Dynaudio sound system. It's only available in a 4 door model. The trim is a unique honeycomb pattern instead of the line pattern, there are aluminum door sills with this trim too. The shift knob is like a golf ball (found on Autobahn), and it's only available with leather seats with power recline. This model is a special edition to commemorate the ending of the production of the Mk6 GTI. VW had used all the leftover parts to produce the car too. This means that we already have the Euro dash cubby and the driver side knee airbag that didn't come with other GTI's.
They sent me a "Driver's Kit". Nice gesture from them. :)

I remember my dad got a shirt and a hat in the mail from GM about a year after getting his 1994 Corvette. Haven't heard of anyone doing this kind of thing since.

2 things-
Of course it's a flat brim
and I take issue with the fact that the golfball-like knob wash't posted.

It's a cool gesture. I like things like this.

Response to 1: Of course it's a flat brim, remember, this is a GTI I won't be wearing it. XD
Response to 2: Enjoy. Oh, and greatest apologies for no manual. I pleaded to parents, it's a first car. At least it's a DSG, that's the next best thing. Shifts quite fast.

Ya it is pretty sweet, my girlfriend gets flyers in the mail from Mazda showing new line ups and concept cars but that is about it. Awesome car by the way.

Thanks! It's a weekend car, I just love it. Have you read my review of it here?

I got a bag of stuff from Mini. There was a sack, a pen, a logbook (it claimed it was for rallying), and a little USB stick that is shaped like the car. It looks like this.
Bonus: Allows for puns from the Mini Factory Service Manual (Step 1: Remove the modular front end)

Greatest apologies for no manual. I pleaded to parents, it's a first car. At least it's a DSG, that's the next best thing. Shifts quite fast. My next car will 100% be a manual. I need it.

I think I have now that you mention it.

BMW is really flogging the whole "We, I mean, *Ahem*, MINI won the 1964 Rally de Monte Carlo."

no that's fine and all, but I found it ironic a car labeled as a "drivers edition" is even available with a two pedal setup.

That, yes. It's odd. However, it's a DSG, which is much better than a regular slush box (Honestly, it's amazing haha!)

Ahem...
I knew there was a reason I bought my Mini instead of the GTI Autobahn Edition I was looking at...
Besides the fact that the GTI Autobahn was $5K more expensive than the Mini.

Needs a sticker right here to complete the true College Dude-bro look.

I love Minis too. My next car will probably be one.

I also have an Oppo review on my Clubman S

Thanks, and great review! My dad currently has a Mini Cooper S Countryman as a rental for the next 2 weeks or so. I'm in love with it. Drives amazing, very solid, and I love the design. There's a 95% chance my next car will be a Mini. :D

VW really does seem to be feeding the stereotype of GTI owners..

They are... Trust me, I'm not part of that stereotype.
